Kitchen Changes

I am still enjoying beach vacation fun but I have some down time and wanted to show a mini update we did to our kitchen. The past few years we have debated moving houses. We love our house and the square footage and such but the layout isn't going to work out for the long term future. We didn't know if we wanted to stay and do some updates or start looking to buy now. Ultimately we have decided to stay in our current home. Once the boys are a little older in a few years we will look for a better floor plan. But for now ..we are all about little updates on making our current home more to our taste. So we have started with the kitchen.

If you look on my Pinterest kitchen board I have big dreams for a white kitchen. Sparkling back splashes.. farm house sink... etc. But in our current home we would not get the return on investing thousands of dollars into changing out all of our cabinets. So we decided to do a simpler change. Paint! They sell these cabinet transformation kits by Rustoleum that gives you the change you are looking for. I have pros and cons on the product but ultimately we are happy with the results.

The product gives you all the tools you need to complete the job. You choose a color tint and just go with it. The best part is... no sanding! The kit also comes with a how to dvd but the how to should be a bit more detailed. The kit also says that you need two coats or the main tint color but you needed a few more coats than that. At least we did. We also added knobs and pulls to the doors that weren't there previously.

This is the kitchen right when we moved in.

In progress... I hated having an exposed kitchen.. messy everywhere and drove my OCD insane

Then we moved a server we had in the formal dining into the kitchen and painted it as well. We turned it into a makeshift mini island.

And here is the finished product

We still are going to exchange out our appliances because the all white is a bit much. We aren't in a huge rush because the appliances aren't very old and are still in good shape. Over all we are pleased with the turnout. Happy kitchen for me!
