An Exasperated Hello to November

I was going to come into this post ranting about how horrible of a month October was. The calendar changed and the time is about to change too... and I'd like to say good riddance to October ... but I'll calm down a bit... you see October was unkind to us. Everyone traded illnesses a few times.. one of the illnesses even earning my oldest dude a hospital stay. Other life's annoyances got in the way for the month and then it was topped off with car trouble that came with a hefty price tag... Adulting was hard this month. Plans were cancelled... activities and parties missed ...lots of lost sleep.. and lots of unplanned money out the door... lots of worry because no one likes seeing the kiddos sick or hurting...

But as we limp into November bleary eyed and exhausted, I choose to be thankful. Thankful that with  all of that we were still able to have and enjoy some good...

My oldest turned another year older and we celebrated with friends and family. We still managed to visit a pumpkin patch and corn maze. We got to see our Dodgers in playoff baseball (even though they were eventually eliminated). Even though oldest dude had to miss lots of school he got to participate in his storybook costume parade. We got to attend a church carnival and a trunk or treat event.

His costume was Fly Guy!
Since we spent so much time at home, we did lots of Halloween and fall crafts and reading. We got to decorate lots for Halloween and even won third place in our neighborhood decorating contest.

Middle dude finished out his soccer season. It may not be a big deal to most but the soccer season really helped him open up socially and gain confidence overall. He really did a good job.

So even though it seems like I'm just recapping the month.. it really is about focusing on the good and positive in an otherwise difficult month for us. There will always be highs and lows but goodness sometimes it seems like when it rains it poors...

Looking forward to November ... maybe get some slightly cooler weather and all the yumminess of Thanksgiving.  And maybe sneak in some early Christmas decorating 😉
